Possessing a combination of experience, vision and design flare, Bruce is one of Blueview’s Directors.

After completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) at the University of Canterbury in 1976, Bruce worked for construction companies in both Wellington and Dunedin, before returning to Christchurch to work as a Project Manager for a large commercial construction company. In charge of constructing large multi story buildings, Bruce honed his craft in Project Management through understanding all manner of construction techniques and processes. Having managed large scale construction projects with both efficiency and quality, Bruce saw an opportunity to improve the building process of residential homes in Christchurch.

Equipped with a wealth of knowledge and a strong desire to improve the construction process for clients, Bruce started his own company building new homes under the name ‘Prestige Homes Canterbury Limited’. Throughout the last decade, Prestige Homes built many new quality homes in the Christchurch area, forming a substantial satisfied customer base from both turn-key homes as well as custom deigned and built homes for clients. Projects ranged from spec homes to custom designed, high end homes, to older persons housing (EPH) multi dwelling projects.

In mid 2009, Bruce saw an opportunity to expand the business to cater for clients throughout the South Island, while still continuing the regular building schedule locally. This saw a rebranding of the company to Blueview Developments Limited, in order to better reflect the future for the company: as a Premium Quality construction company, specialising in the design and building of one-off, custom homes throughout the South Island. Since this change, Blueview have undertaken projects from Nelson through to Queenstown, and many places in between.

Right through his career, Bruce has followed the mantra of “quality not quantity” and has treated each new project as an opportunity to build the company’s reputation of quality, trust, honesty and a stunning standard of completion.

Passionate about construction, design and architecture, James is one of Blueview’s qualified Project Managers.

After previously working for a Christchurch based machinery company in an organisational role managing suppliers and rentals, James made the decision to follow his passion for construction and joined the family business — Blueview Developments.

A few years on, James is now a qualified Construction Trades Supervisor after completing 15 months of study through BCITO. He is continuing his part time studies through working on a Level 5 Certificate in Main Contract Supervision focusing on medium sized projects.

Through years of hard work and experience in his role of Project Manager, James has overseen the construction of many homes and multi-dwelling projects, developing a knack for keeping projects on schedule, budget and maintaining the high standards of our finished homes. Having a keen eye for detail and a thorough knowledge of current design trends, When it’s time to decide on colours, fixtures and fittings, clients will benefit from James’s extensive knowledge, experience and passion when it comes to design and styling.
